Fomo clans: how they rank, and what joining one shows
A fomo clan is a group of traders whose results are added together and ranked against other groups. You find clans from the Leaderboard tab, where the top 50 are ranked by combined PnL over 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Each clan has a page with Members, Holdings, Feed and Thesis tabs, you can belong to one clan at a time, and joining one lets the other members see your individual PnL.

What is a fomo clan?
fomo is a social trading app: you can see what other people buy and sell, follow them, and read why they bought. Clans add a team layer on top of that. Instead of ranking one trader against another, fomo adds up the profit and loss of everyone in a clan and ranks clans against each other. Everything here comes from fomo’s help center article on clans, updated in early November 2026, so details may still change as the feature settles in.
For someone who has not opened the fomo trading app yet, the useful way to think about a clan is as a shared watchlist with names attached. You see which tokens a group holds together, what its members post, and how the group has done over a set window. It does not trade for you, and nothing about joining one changes how a trade is placed or what it costs.
Where do you find clans in the fomo app?
Open the Leaderboard tab and tap Clans. The Leaderboard itself sits in the fourth tab of the app’s bottom bar, alongside your friends list, and the individual trader board ranks every fomo trader by realized and unrealized PnL. The clan view works the same way for groups:
- Top 50 only. The list shows the 50 highest clans by combined PnL.
- Three windows. You can switch between 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. The individual board also has an all-time view; the clans article lists only the three shorter windows.
- Below 50 still has a rank. A clan outside the top 50 does not appear in the list, but its own page and clan search still show where it ranks.
How to read rankings over short windows, and why a 24-hour leader may just have caught one move, is covered in our guide to reading the fomo leaderboard before you follow anyone. The same caution applies to clans, with one addition: a combined number can hide that most of the profit came from one member.
What is on a clan page?
Every clan page has four tabs. fomo describes some of them in more detail than others, so this table separates what is documented from what is not:
| Tab | What fomo says it shows | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Members | The people in the clan; the clan page shows each member’s individual PnL | Joining makes your own PnL visible to the other members |
| Holdings | The clan’s combined position in each token | A big combined position can be one member’s trade, so check Members too |
| Feed | Clan activity, with a minimum trade size filter | Items below the amount you choose are hidden; milestones and items with no size always show |
| Thesis | Named as a tab; fomo does not describe its contents | Theses on fomo are written takes attached to a position, explained in our fomo trade thesis guide |
The page also has a Follow all button that follows every member in one tap. Following on fomo means their trades show up in your feed and, if you turn notifications on, you are alerted when they buy or sell past a threshold you set. fomo’s following guide also notes a cap on how many accounts you can follow, based on your own activity, so following a whole clan at once is worth a moment’s thought. The alert settings are explained in our guide to fomo app notifications.
How do you create or join a fomo clan?
You join a clan by invitation. A clan founder opens Manage members, taps Invite, and either searches for a trader by name or shares an invite link. If you are already in another clan, you have to leave it before you can accept.
To start your own clan, fomo’s help center lists what you set:
- A name, up to 50 characters.
- A description, up to 280 characters.
- An icon and a banner image.
The name and description are checked for profanity and are not saved until they pass. A new clan then starts hidden while it is reviewed: it is left off the clan leaderboard and members carry no clan badge until it is made visible, though the founder’s own clan card still shows its rank. fomo does not say who reviews clans or how long it takes. Website and social links cannot be set from the app.
What can a clan founder control?
The founder manages the clan from the settings icon on the clan page. The documented controls are:
- Invites. Send them by name search or link, and revoke pending invites.
- Reset link. Makes the old invite link stop working, useful if it was shared too widely.
- Remove members. A removed member can be invited back later.
- Member limit. Every clan has one. fomo does not publish the number. When the clan reaches it, no new invites can be sent or accepted, and current members stay.
A member who wants out taps Leave clan on the clan page. Their positions, holdings and profit stop counting toward the clan’s stats, and they can rejoin if invited again.
What does joining a clan make visible?
This is the part to weigh before accepting an invite. fomo says that joining a clan lets other members see your individual PnL, and your positions count toward the clan’s combined holdings. On fomo much of your activity is already social: trades can appear in the fomo social feed, and the trader leaderboard ranks everyone by PnL. A clan puts your results side by side with a smaller group of people who may know you.
If your PnL is public anyway, that changes little. If you would rather trade quietly while you learn, there is no requirement to join a clan to use the app. How fomo calculates the PnL figure others will see, including why it can differ from what you expected, is set out in fomo PnL explained.
Are fomo clans worth it for a beginner?
As a way to find traders and tokens, clans can save time: Holdings shows where a group has its money, and the Feed filter lets you hide small trades so only meaningful positions show. As a signal to buy, they need the same scepticism as any leaderboard. A clan’s rank is combined PnL over a short window, which says nothing about how much risk its members took, and by the time a clan’s position is visible the price may already have moved.
Two practical points. First, a trade you copy from a clan costs the same as any other: 0.50% on most chains plus network fees, with tiers on small Solana orders, all set out on the fomo fees page. Second, be wary of anyone outside the app who promises access to a “winning clan” for a payment or a private key; that is a scam pattern, not a fomo feature, and our guide to common fomo scams covers how to spot it. fomo’s terms also list coordinated transactions without a genuine economic purpose and wash trading as prohibited conduct.
If you have not created an account yet, the order matters: open a referral link with the fee discount before signing up, because it only attaches at sign-up, then follow our step-by-step sign-up guide.
Fomo clan questions
Can I be in more than one fomo clan?
No. fomo’s help center says you can be in one clan at a time. If you are invited to a second clan, you have to leave your current one before you can accept.
How many people can join a fomo clan?
fomo says every clan has a member limit but does not publish the number. Once a clan reaches it, no new invites can be sent or accepted, and existing members stay in the clan.
Why can’t I see my new clan on the clan leaderboard?
New clans start hidden while fomo reviews them. Until the clan is made visible it is left off the clan leaderboard and members show no clan badge, although the founder’s own clan card still shows its rank. fomo does not say how long review takes.
Does joining a clan cost anything or pay anything?
fomo’s clans article mentions no fee to create or join a clan and no reward for clan rank. Trades you make as a clan member are ordinary trades and pay the normal fomo trading fee for their chain.
What happens to my positions if I leave a clan?
Nothing happens to the positions themselves. fomo says that when you tap Leave clan, your positions, holdings and profit stop counting toward the clan’s stats. You keep trading as before, and you can rejoin if you are invited again.
