Trading Ethereum tokens on fomo

Trading Ethereum network tokens on fomo costs 0.50% plus Ethereum gas, which you pay yourself. Gas on Ethereum is the most expensive of fomo's six chains in typical conditions, so Ethereum on fomo suits larger positions far better than small speculative buys.

What does an Ethereum trade cost on fomo?

fomo's help center states that on every network except Solana, network fees are paid by you on top of the 0.50% fee. Ethereum gas moves with demand and fomo does not quote it ahead of time, so we cannot give you a fixed number. The practical rule is that the smaller the trade, the larger gas is as a percentage. See the chain-by-chain fee comparison.

Why can't you deposit USDC on Ethereum?

fomo's deposit guide lists three networks for USDC deposits: Solana, Base and BNB Chain. Ethereum is not one of them. If you hold USDC on Ethereum at an exchange, withdraw it from the exchange on one of the supported networks instead, or fund your balance with Apple Pay or a debit card. Sending USDC on the wrong network is one of the easiest ways to lose money, and fomo warns about it directly.

When does trading on Ethereum through fomo make sense?

  • When the token you want only has real liquidity on Ethereum.
  • When the position is large enough that gas is a small fraction of the trade.
  • When you would otherwise need to manage ETH for gas and your own wallet, and prefer fomo's single balance.

For quick, small memecoin trades, the economics usually favour Solana for mid-sized orders or Base for small ones.

Ethereum tokens and the 0.05% major-token fee

fomo charges 0.05% on selected major tokens, capped at 0.50 USDC for orders under 1,000 USDC. fomo decides which assets are on that list. A reduced trading fee does not remove the network fee of the chain the trade settles on, so check the fee line in the trade details before confirming a large order.

What about Ethereum-based perps?

Perpetual futures on fomo, including ETH perps, run through Hyperliquid and Trade[XYZ] rather than Ethereum mainnet swaps, and fomo's Terms of Service list a 0.05% perps fee. Perps are not available to US persons. They are a different product with leverage risk; do not confuse them with buying tokens on Ethereum. More on who can use what is on the fomo safety and restrictions page, and the full list of questions is in the fomo FAQ.

If you have not installed it yet, get the fomo app and read the fomo trading guide before funding it.

Ethereum on fomo

Can I trade Ethereum tokens on fomo?

Yes. Ethereum is one of the six networks listed in fomo’s fee documentation, with a 0.50% trading fee plus Ethereum network fees.

Why are small Ethereum trades expensive on fomo?

Because Ethereum gas is paid by you on top of the 0.50% fee, and gas does not shrink with order size. On a small order the gas can cost more than the trading fee itself.

Can I deposit USDC on Ethereum to fomo?

fomo’s deposit guide lists Solana, Base and BNB Chain for USDC deposits. Ethereum is not on that list, so do not send USDC on Ethereum to a fomo address.

Is ETH on fomo the same as trading on Ethereum?

Not necessarily. You can buy large assets like ETH in the app, and some major tokens have a 0.05% fee. Trading tokens that live on the Ethereum network is what brings Ethereum gas into the cost.
