Trading Base tokens on fomo
Trading Base tokens on fomo costs a flat 0.50% at any order size, plus the Base network fee, which you pay yourself. Base is also one of the three networks where fomo accepts USDC deposits, which makes it a straightforward chain to fund and trade on.
What does a Base trade cost on fomo?
| Order size | fomo fee at 0.50% | With referral (0.45%) | Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 USDC | 0.10 USDC | 0.09 USDC | Base network fee |
| 100 USDC | 0.50 USDC | 0.45 USDC | Base network fee |
| 1,000 USDC | 5.00 USDC | 4.50 USDC | Base network fee |
fomo does not publish the network fee in advance because it depends on activity on Base at the time of the trade. What fomo does publish, in its help center, is that on every network other than Solana the network fee is paid by you on top of the 0.50% fomo fee. We mention it plainly because some third-party guides claim fomo also covers gas on Base; fomo's own article does not say that.
Base or Solana on fomo: which is cheaper?
It depends on order size, not on the chain's reputation. A flat 0.50% makes Base predictable for small orders, where Solana's tiers bite:
- 20 USDC: Base 0.10 USDC plus network fee; Solana 0.40 USDC (2% tier), no gas.
- 100 USDC: Base 0.50 USDC plus network fee; Solana 0.95 USDC flat, no gas.
- 500 USDC: Base 2.50 USDC plus network fee; Solana 2.50 USDC, no gas.
In practice the right chain is the one the token actually trades on. The comparison matters when the same asset is available on both. See the Solana fee tiers on fomo for the other side.
How do you fund Base trades?
Use your fomo cash balance, funded with Apple Pay, a debit card or USDC. To deposit USDC directly, choose Base in the app's deposit screen and send only USDC on Base to that address. fomo's deposit guide warns that you can only send USDC on supported networks; other tokens, or USDC sent on a different network, can be lost.
What should you check before buying a Base token on fomo?
- That it is the right contract. Popular names are copied across chains; a Base token with a famous name is not necessarily the famous token.
- Liquidity and holders. The app's most held and verified filters are a starting point, not a guarantee.
- Your exit costs. Selling pays another 0.50% plus another network fee.
fomo does not publish which Base exchanges it routes orders through, so we do not guess. The memecoin risks in general are covered on how to trade meme coins on fomo.
How do you pay less on Base?
The network fee is outside fomo's control, but the trading fee is not. Signing up through a referral link lowers 0.50% to 0.45% for every eligible trade. It must be done when the account is created; follow the account set-up steps.
