Export private key

How to export your fomo wallet and private keys safely

To export your fomo wallet, open Settings, then Account, then Export. fomo shows two private keys: a Solana key and an EVM key. Import the one you need into a non-custodial wallet you trust and it opens the same wallet you already have in fomo. The steps take a minute; keeping the key safe afterwards is the part that matters.

What does exporting a fomo wallet actually mean?

fomo describes its wallet as non-custodial, and the private key is what gives access to it. Exporting does not move any money. It reveals the key so that another wallet app can sign for the same addresses. fomo’s help center puts it simply: importing the key opens the same wallet in another app rather than creating a new one.

That makes export useful even if you are happy with the app. It is also the reason anyone holding the key has full control of the wallet and every token in it. For a new user, the practical takeaway is that a fomo trading app account is not a closed box: you can take the keys with you, and you carry the responsibility that comes with them. How fomo protects the key while it stays inside the app is covered on our fomo safety page.

How do you export your fomo private key, step by step?

fomo documents a single path in the mobile app. Before you start, make sure you are somewhere private and on a device you trust.

  1. Open your profile, then Settings. Settings sits behind the gear icon on your profile.
  2. Tap Account. This is the same screen that shows your wallet addresses.
  3. Tap Export. If you have turned on biometrics under Settings, then Security, fomo will ask for Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint first.
  4. Pick the key you need. Solana for Solana tokens, EVM for everything else (see the table below).
  5. Import it straight into the other wallet. Use the import option of a non-custodial wallet that supports that network, then close the key screen.

fomo’s guide to small balances also points to a web route, fomo.family/export-key, for getting at positions too small to sell. Whichever route you use, only type that address yourself. A link to an "export" page sent to you in a message is exactly how lookalike sites catch people, as described in how fomo scams work.

Which key do you need: Solana or EVM?

Your fomo account has one Solana address and one EVM address, and each export key controls only its own address. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason an imported wallet looks empty.

KeyNetworks it controlsImport it into
Solana keySolanaA non-custodial wallet that supports Solana
EVM keyBase, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum, Robinhood Chain, ArcA non-custodial wallet that supports the EVM network you need

One EVM key covers six networks because they share the same address format. If a token you see in fomo does not show up after import, check that the other wallet has the right network enabled before assuming anything is wrong. You can confirm the address on a block explorer, as our guide to sending SOL and other tokens on fomo explains.

Why would you export your fomo wallet?

fomo’s own help center lists the reasons, and each maps to a situation the app cannot handle on its own:

  • Sending tokens other than USDC. The app sends USDC to outside wallets directly. For SOL and other tokens, fomo’s route is to export the key and send from another wallet.
  • Reaching dust. Positions under 2 USDC (5 USDC on Ethereum) cannot be sold in the app. Exported, they are no longer bound by that minimum, which is also why a token that will not sell on fomo sometimes needs this step.
  • Cleaning up the wallet. fomo mentions burning worthless Solana tokens and general wallet cleanup.
  • Funds sent on an unsupported network. USDC sent to your EVM address on a network fomo does not read is still yours, and fomo’s recovery route starts with exporting the EVM key.
  • Before deleting your account. fomo warns that if you delete your account without exporting first, you lose access to anything left in the wallet. The full order of steps is in our guide to deleting a fomo account.

How do you keep an exported key safe?

fomo’s Terms of Service say the key is transmitted to you unencrypted by Privy, the third-party provider that manages the wallet. From that moment, its safety depends on you. fomo’s help center is specific about what not to do:

  • Never share the key with anyone. fomo staff will never ask for it, and anyone who does is running a scam.
  • Do not store it on any digital device, do not screenshot it and do not paste it into a website.
  • Treat it like a bank password, and secure the email, Apple ID or Google Account you sign in with using a strong password and two-factor authentication, since that login is the gateway to the wallet (see how fomo login works).

The simplest habit is to export only when you have a concrete reason, import the key directly into the destination wallet, and not keep a copy you do not need.

What happens if your exported key leaks?

fomo’s page on unauthorized transactions lists how a key usually escapes: it was entered into a site, form or app; stored on a device or account someone else accessed; shared with someone; used to sign a request on a phishing site; or exposed to a browser extension running while you were signed in. Any transfer signed that way happens outside fomo, and fomo cannot undo it: it is non-custodial, staff have no access to keys, and confirmed on-chain transactions are final.

If real funds leave your wallet (see what to do after an unauthorized fomo transaction), fomo’s advice is to stop adding money to it and contact support immediately, saying whether you ever exported the key and where it may have been entered. Note that an unfamiliar token appearing in the wallet is usually an airdropped scam token, not a breach; do not interact with it. The only official support routes are listed on our fomo family official website guide.

Should you think about export before you sign up?

Yes, briefly. Knowing you can take your keys out is part of judging any app that holds your crypto, and fomo documents that route clearly. It is also worth knowing the reverse is not offered: fomo does not support importing an existing wallet, so your fomo addresses are always new ones created at sign-up. If you have not created an account yet, open a referral link first, because the fee discount only attaches at sign-up, then follow the sign-up walkthrough. For funding, withdrawals and the rest of the wallet, see the fomo wallet guide.

Exporting your fomo wallet: questions

Does exporting my key close or move my fomo wallet?

No. fomo’s help center says importing the key opens the same wallet in another app; it does not create a new one. Your fomo account keeps working on the same addresses, so the wallet is simply reachable from two places at once.

Why does fomo show two private keys?

Because the account has two addresses. The Solana key controls your Solana address, and the EVM key controls one address shared by Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum, Robinhood Chain and Arc. Each key only works on its own network family.

Do I need Face ID to export my fomo key?

Only if you turned biometrics on. fomo’s help center says biometric authentication is optional and set under Settings, then Security; once it is enabled, it is required to withdraw funds or export keys.

Can I import a wallet I already own into fomo instead?

No. fomo states that it does not support importing an existing wallet. Export works in one direction only: from fomo to another non-custodial wallet.

Can fomo get my funds back if my exported key leaks?

No. fomo says it is non-custodial, its staff have no access to private keys, and confirmed on-chain transactions cannot be reversed. If you think a key has leaked, fomo’s advice is to stop adding funds and contact support immediately.
