USDC deposit

How to deposit USDC to fomo without losing it

Sending crypto into fomo is the step where beginners lose money, and it is entirely avoidable. fomo accepts one token, USDC, on three networks. Send anything else, or the right token on the wrong network, and fomo's own guide says the funds can be lost. Here is the safe sequence.

What can you deposit to fomo?

QuestionAnswer from fomo's guide
Which token?USDC only
Which networks?Solana, Base, BNB Chain
Other tokens (SOL, ETH, BNB)?Not accepted as deposits
Wrong network? Can result in the loss of funds
Alternative fundingApple Pay or debit card, no crypto needed

Note what this does not mean: you can still trade on Ethereum, Monad and Robinhood Chain inside the app. You just cannot send USDC in over those networks; funding happens on the three supported chains and the balance works everywhere, which is the point of the fomo wallet.

How to deposit USDC, step by step

  1. Create the account first, through a referral link if you want the lower fee, because it cannot be attached later. The full order is in the sign-up guide.
  2. Open the deposit screen and choose the chain you will send from. fomo's guide says to choose your preferred chain from where you will be depositing.
  3. Copy the address or scan the QR code fomo shows for that chain.
  4. On the sending side, pick USDC and the exact same network. On an exchange this is usually a dropdown next to the withdrawal address.
  5. Send a small test amount first, for example a few dollars, and wait for it to appear.
  6. Send the rest once the test has landed.

Which network should you choose?

All three deposit networks put the same USDC in the same balance, so pick on cost and habit rather than features:

  • Solana if you plan to trade Solana tokens. fomo covers gas, priority fees and token rent there, which matters because Solana is where most memecoin activity happens. Details on the Solana page.
  • Base if your funds already sit on an Ethereum layer 2. Trades cost 0.50% plus the network fee, covered on the Base page.
  • BNB Chain if you are sending from an exchange that makes BNB Chain withdrawals cheapest, as covered on the BNB Chain page.

Sending fees are charged by the exchange or wallet you send from, not by fomo, so compare there before you pick. fomo's deposit guide says these three networks are what it is integrated with, "with more to come in the near future", so the list is worth re-checking before a large transfer.

What about withdrawing USDC back out?

The same care applies in reverse. fomo tells you to make sure the wallet address is correct and that you are withdrawing to the correct network, because withdrawing to the wrong network can result in the loss of funds. fomo says a withdrawal should appear in your wallet within a couple of seconds once sent; tokens other than USDC follow a different route, covered in how to send tokens out of fomo. Bank withdrawals are different and can take up to three business days, with extra verification possible on the first one; timings are on the fomo wallet guide.

Is depositing USDC better than using a card?

It depends on where your money already is. If you hold crypto on an exchange, USDC is the direct route and avoids card processing entirely. If you are starting from a bank balance, Apple Pay or a debit card inside the app is simpler, and fomo does not publish a fee for either, so check the amount shown before confirming. Either way the trading fee is the same: 0.50% on most chains, tiered on Solana, as shown on the fomo fees page. For the bigger picture of what fomo crypto is as a product, start on the home page.

Fomo USDC deposit questions

Which networks can I deposit USDC on?

Solana, Base and BNB Chain. fomo’s deposit guide says the app is integrated with those three chains and that you can only send USDC, on a supported network. Ethereum, Monad and Robinhood Chain are tradable inside the app but are not listed as deposit networks.

What happens if I send USDC on the wrong network?

fomo warns that sending to the wrong network can result in the loss of funds, and describes no recovery process. The same applies to sending a token other than USDC. Always match the network on the sending side to the network you selected in fomo.

Is there a minimum USDC deposit?

fomo does not publish a minimum for crypto deposits, and states elsewhere that there is no minimum deposit. Your sending exchange or wallet may enforce its own minimum withdrawal amount.

How long does a USDC deposit take to arrive?

fomo does not publish a deposit time. On Solana, Base and BNB Chain, transfers normally confirm in seconds to a couple of minutes, after which the balance appears in the app. Send a small test amount first if this is your first deposit.

Can I deposit other coins like SOL or ETH?

No. fomo’s guide is explicit that you can only send USDC. If you hold SOL or ETH elsewhere, swap to USDC before sending, or fund with Apple Pay or a debit card instead.
